Joe Biden.

Thanks to Ms. Ganado for telling me know last week that I could get a text message from Obama about his vice presidential nominee. Here’s a copy of the e-mail Obama sent me this morning at 4:14 a.m.:

I have some important news that I want to make official.
I’ve chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.
Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois — the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.
I’m excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can’t do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.
Please let Joe know that you’re glad he’s part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we’ll make sure he gets it:

Thanks for your support,

Barack

Paid for by Obama for America

Here’s what I think the media will be saying and what Hillary’s supporters will be thinking.

When the Media Says This:

Hillary Supporters Think This:

Biden’s a great choice.

Not Hillary.

Biden provides gravitas.

So does Hillary.

Biden will bring voters to Obama.

18 million?

Biden’s not afraid to speak up.

Hillary has been putting Bill in his place for years.

Biden’s past mistakes (like plagiarism) don’t matter.

Hillary wasn’t the one who cheated.

Biden will help in states where Obama did poorly in the primaries.

Hillary is the one who beat Obama in those primaries.

Obama did extensive vetting of Biden.

Obama didn’t even bother to formally vet Hillary. Are you kidding me?

Biden kept his mouth shut about being chosen and earned Obama’s trust.

Obama never gave Hillary a chance.

Obama-Biden can win.

Hillary leads McCain in national polls all by herself.

Hillary supporters will vote for Obama.

Don’t be so sure.

Biden!

Not Hillary.

And, who can forget Biden’s original assessment of Obama as a presidential candidate as this video reports?

Now, I’m waiting to see who McCain picks as his vice presidential nominee. If it’s Kay Bailey Hutchison or another woman, McCain may just get my vote.
